Josia (ongoing)
feature film | work in progress | 2027
A small town in the Middle Rhine Valley. In the town center, which once attracted many tourists with its winding alleys, many shops now stand empty. The paintings of nymphs and water creatures on the facades of the houses are fading, as if the memories of the legends surrounding the river were slowly being forgotten. Since his wife died five years ago, KARL (34) has been living alone with his son THEO (7) in a house just outside the town. For as long as Theo can remember, it has been just him and his dad. He can talk to Karl about anything — except his mother.

Karl's and Theo's life is turned upside down when Karl decides to rent out the small apartment under the roof, and JOSIA (25) moves in with them. Theo is suspicious of the new tenant from the very first moment. With his water-blue eyes and amused smile, Josia can’t possibly be human. Karl, on the other hand, is surprised by how nice it is to no longer live alone in the house. While Karl feels increasingly attracted to Josia, Theo becomes more and more certain that he is a water spirit. The young man’s presence begins to drive a wedge between father and son.
